This makes me think of many of Debussy’s orchestral works.  It meanders beautifully through the different themes and sections, and is so impressionistic.  It makes sense that the piece is very pianistic in feel, since it’s dedicated to Bill Evans (the title is the date of his death).  The two of them are like an entire orchestra.
